HP’s Mobile E-Services Bazaar is a center for collaboration, living labs where the key players in the mobile ecosystem can work together. The bazaar is the hub of a global community of mobile applications developers.
The HP Mobile E-Services Bazaar was launched in 1999, as a statement of HP’s leadership in the communications industry, and in mobile e-services in particular. HP hardware and software platforms power the world's telecommunications networks as well as advanced services such as the intelligent network and short messaging. HP believes mobility is not about the accessing the Internet over mobile devices - it’s about delivering useful services to people on the go.

The collaborative ecosystem
A "collaborative ecosystem" is a community of businesses that work together to create value for customers in a way that is mutually beneficial for each business within the ecosystem. The businesses in the system -- whether they are content providers, device manufacturers, billing an payment service providers, or the wireless carrier -- collaborate to leverage their unique resources, capabilities and economies of scale to create value for the customer, grow the overall revenue and properly allocate revenue among the entities in the ecosystem. When each of the components of value is combined in the end service or product, it is difficult to replicate by competing business communities.

i-mode has been phenomenally successful in Japan because it is remarkably convenient for users, employs powerful new technology, and relies on NTT DoCoMo's unique i-mode business model. Underlying this business model is an entirely new approach to the mobile service value chain and to the relationship between wireless service and the Internet.

특히 알카텔은 NGN/브로드밴드 서비스, 이동통신 부가서비스 등을 한개의 플랫폼에서 제공할 수 있도록 하는 애플리케이션 플랫폼인 OSP(오픈 서비스 플랫폼: Open Service Platform)를 개발하고 우리나라 특유의 통신 환경에 적극 대응한다는 계획이다. 알카텔의 OSP는 다른 애플리케이션을 활용할 수 있게 해 주는 `파레이' 게이트웨이 기능을 내장하고 있으며, 다양한 과금 방식을 지원하여 향후 다양한 단말기 형태(유선전화기, 휴대폰, PC, TV 등) 및 과금 형태(선불, 신용카드 등), 유무선 네트워크에 상관없이 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 미래보장형(Future―proof) 애플리케이션 플랫폼이다.

In 1992, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), Japan's phone monopoly, spun off its DoCoMo wireless division. DoCoMo - which stands for Do (Japanese for "everywhere") Communications over the Mobile Network - has brought Japan to the forefront of the wireless revolution. DoCoMo's success has been due largely to i-mode, its popular mobile Internet service.
